Ruply Terms of Service
Last updated: June 24, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Ruply app for iPhone and any related services (collectively, "Ruply"). Ruply is built and operated by Mehul Bhargava, an independent developer based in India ("we", "us").
By installing or using Ruply, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
1. What Ruply is
Ruply is a personal finance app that helps you track expenses, set budgets, split bills with friends, run a shared household budget, and understand your spending patterns. Ruply is not a bank, not a payment processor, not a lender, not a tax adviser, not a financial planner, and not a SEBI-registered investment adviser. Nothing in Ruply constitutes financial, legal, tax, or investment advice.
You use Ruply to track and understand your money. The decisions you make based on what you see in Ruply are entirely your own.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use Ruply. If you are under 18, you confirm that a parent or guardian has reviewed these Terms and agrees to them on your behalf.
3. Your account
Ruply does not have its own account system. You sign in with Sign in with Apple, which authenticates you using your Apple ID. You are responsible for keeping your Apple ID secure. We cannot recover access on your behalf — Apple controls the authentication layer.
4. Your data
Your expenses, budgets, friend records, household records, and other content remain your data. Ruply does not claim any ownership of it. We store it locally on your device and in your iCloud — see the Privacy Policy for the full explanation. We do not sell it, share it, mine it, or use it to train AI models.
You are responsible for the accuracy of the data you enter. If you enter the wrong amount or the wrong category, Ruply will faithfully save the wrong amount or the wrong category.
5. Acceptable use
You agree to use Ruply only for its intended purpose — tracking your own personal expenses and the expenses of your household and split groups. You agree not to:
- Use Ruply to launder money, defraud anyone, or facilitate any illegal activity.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the app beyond what's permitted by applicable law.
- Attempt to access, scrape, or interfere with our AI proxy, our Splits relay, our subscription verification backend, or any infrastructure used to deliver Ruply.
- Use Ruply to harass, defame, or harm another person, including misusing the friend-splitting or household features to create or send abusive content.
- Resell, sublicense, or commercially redistribute the app or any of its features.
We may suspend or terminate your access to Ruply if you materially breach these terms, with notice where reasonably possible.
6. Ruply+ subscription
6.1 Plans and billing
Ruply offers an optional Ruply+ subscription with three plans:
- Individual Monthly — billed monthly.
- Individual Yearly — billed annually, with a 7-day free trial for first-time subscribers.
- Household Yearly — billed annually, covers up to 5 household members under one subscription, with a 7-day free trial for first-time subscribers.
All subscriptions are purchased through Apple In-App Purchase. Apple charges your Apple ID, manages renewals, manages refunds, and handles all payment information. Ruply never sees your card details.
Subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, per Apple's standard subscription terms. You can manage or cancel at any time from your iPhone's Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions or from Ruply → Settings → Manage subscription.
6.2 Free trial
If your plan offers a free trial, the trial begins when your purchase is confirmed by Apple. You will not be charged during the trial. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, the full subscription fee is charged automatically and the subscription renews on the standard schedule. Trials are one-per-Apple-ID per subscription group, as enforced by Apple.
6.3 Refunds
Apple is responsible for refunds on App Store purchases. To request a refund, use Apple's refund flow at reportaproblem.apple.com or via iOS Settings → Media & Purchases → Account → Purchase History. We do not directly issue refunds for App Store purchases and cannot reverse Apple's charges.
6.4 Household Plus continuity
A Ruply+ Household subscription is purchased by one user (the financier) and grants Plus access to up to five household members. Members' access to Plus features depends on the financier maintaining an active Household subscription. If the financier cancels, their card is declined past Apple's billing-retry grace period, or their subscription otherwise lapses, household members will lose Plus access at the end of the current billing period.
Ruply will notify affected members via an in-app banner and a push notification when this happens, but Ruply is not responsible for the financier's billing decisions. Members may purchase their own Individual subscription at any time to retain Plus access independently.
6.5 What Plus unlocks
The specific features included in Ruply+ are listed inside the app and may evolve over time. We may add, change, or remove features without notice, provided we don't materially reduce the core value of an active subscription. If we ever do materially reduce it, we'll give you reasonable notice and an option to cancel.
6.6 Price changes
We may change subscription prices for future renewals with at least 30 days' notice. Apple will surface this notice to you per its standard subscription terms; you can decline a price increase by cancelling before the next renewal.
7. AI features
Ruply uses third-party AI providers (Anthropic's Claude for text features, Sarvam Saaras V3 for speech-to-text) routed through our stateless Cloudflare Worker proxy. AI is probabilistic: it sometimes misreads a receipt, mis-categorises an expense, or mishears a voice command. Always review AI-parsed expenses before saving. Ruply is not liable for incorrect or missing data resulting from AI parsing errors that a reasonable user would have caught on review.
Outages, capacity limits, or provider downtime may temporarily disable AI features. Non-AI features (manual expense entry, splits, budgets, EMIs, envelopes) continue to work without AI.
8. Push notifications and household activity
When you create or join a Household, take actions in shared groups, or interact with friends in split flows, Ruply may send push notifications to the affected users. You agree that performing such actions is your authorisation for these notifications. Notifications can be turned off per-type in iOS Settings → Ruply → Notifications.
9. Storage, backup, and data loss
Ruply stores your data using Apple's Core Data framework with iCloud sync via NSPersistentCloudKitContainer. Splits and settlements additionally pass through our end-to-end encrypted Splits relay so they can reach friends whose iClouds are separate from yours. Ruply also writes a weekly encrypted JSON backup of your expense data to your own iCloud Drive.
You are responsible for maintaining your Apple ID in good standing and ensuring iCloud sync is enabled. Ruply cannot recover data from an Apple ID we don't control. If you sign out of iCloud, disable iCloud sync, or delete your iCloud data through Apple's storage management, your Ruply data may be permanently lost. We strongly recommend keeping iCloud backup enabled on your device and not disabling Ruply's automatic JSON backup.
10. Disclaimers
Ruply is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties — express, implied, or statutory — including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, reliability, non-infringement, and uninterrupted operation.
We don't warrant that:
- Ruply will be available without interruption.
- Bugs or errors will be fixed within a particular timeframe.
- AI-generated content will be accurate, complete, or free from error.
- Sync conflicts, iCloud throttling, or Apple platform changes will not affect the app.
